ADVANCE, Mo. -- Marjean Weissenborn McLane, 71, of Advance died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born April 14, 1929, in Hickory Ridge, Mo., daughter of F.E. and Anna Murphy Weissenborn. Her early childhood years were spent at Dongola, Mo.
Marjean and Don McLane were married Aug. 8, 1948, after graduation from Advance High School and one year at Southeast Missouri State University. He died in a tractor accident May 18, 1963. She later married George Ray Hitt June 26, 1971. He preceded her in death Aug. 26, 1993.
Marjean retired in 1989 from the Department of Agriculture after 23 years of service at Stoddard County and Bollinger County ASCS offices. Prior to that she was a rural mail carrier and an Inland Shoe Co. employee.
She worshipped at First Baptist Church in Advance, where she was a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of WMU and the church board.
She was secretary of both Lone Oak Village Board and Ladies Auxiliary Post 7750. For many years she attended Wednesday Study Club meetings associated with the Federated Women's Clubs of Missouri.
Survivors include a son, Ray McLane and his wife Gail of Advance; a daughter, Gloria McLane Hottes and husband Larry of DuQuoin, Ill.; a grandson, Cade McLane Cummins of DuQuoin; a stepgrandson, Camden Hottes of Marion, Ill.; a stepgranddaughter, Jennifer Beltz of O'Fallon, Ill.; four great-stepgrandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Vern McLane of Greenville, Mo., Geradine Stroup of Cape Girardeau; many other relatives, church family and friends.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Stan Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
