Marion Elizabeth Young, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at her home.

She was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Perth, New Brunswick, Canada, to George Hanford and Jenny Hazel Bishop. She and Emmett Young were married June 28, 1947, in New York City. He died June 28, 1984.

Mrs. Young was president and owner/operator of Young's Frigidaire for 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Cape Girardeau Newcomers Club, Cape Girardeau Choraliers, and sang with the Jaycee Follies many years.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Young and Bryan (Rhonda) Young of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Nicholas Young, Zachary Young, Chelsea Young, Jordan Young and Mollie Young; and a great-grandchild, Jaidyn Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Harold; and two sisters, Louise and Geneva.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Roop officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Missouri State University River Campus.
