MARION RUTH DEWEY

CAIRO, Ill. -- Marion Ruth Dewey, 88, of Gilbertsville, Ky., formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1993, at the Britthaven Nursing Home in Benton, Ky.

She was born July 24, 1905, at Campbell, Mo., daughter of Edward P. and Nannie B. Simpson Fletcher.

She married Edmond D. Dewey. He died in 1970.

Dewey was a member of the Cairo Baptist Church.

She was an accomplished musician and recorded music for silent movies in the 1920s.

There are no surviving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo, with Dr. Larry L. Potts officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge, Ill.
