Marion Franklin Hobbs, 79, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Scott City, son of George and Belle Butcher Hobbs. He was raised by foster parents, John and Addie Hobbs of Jackson. He married Syvilla M. Brockmire, who died Jan. 5, 1995.
Hobbs was an operating engineer 44 years with Local 150 in Chicago. He had worked at Erlbacher Foundary and Dry Dock, R.B. Potashnick, and at an atomic energy plant in Paducah, Ky. He worked in a shipyard in Vallejo, Calif., during World War II. He retired in 1980 and moved to Cape Girardeau from Chicago. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three half brothers, Ernest Tooley of Fayetteville, Ark., Luther Johnson of Springfield, Jim Routh of Kansas City; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Mary Wilhite of Cape Girardeau, who took care of him; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Dissen officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
