Marilyn Wiggs, 83, of Cape Girardeau peacefully passed in her sleep Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1937, in her parents' farmhouse in Bloomfield, Missouri, to Cecil and Ellen Barham Long. She lived at Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau...

Marilyn Wiggs, 83, of Cape Girardeau peacefully passed in her sleep Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 13, 1937, in her parents' farmhouse in Bloomfield, Missouri, to Cecil and Ellen Barham Long.

She lived at Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of Parents Without Partners and was a volunteer at Saint Francis Hospital and the Capaha Park Rose Display Garden. She worked local elections, loved to read books, paint, quilt and sew, the St. Louis Cardinals, The Muny and the River Campus, along with playing games and cards.

She retired from AT&T.

She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Stephen (Lee-Ann) Wiggs of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Lynett Wiggs (Jim) O'Shea of St. Louis; a sister, Elizabeth Long (Bill) Mueller of St. Peters, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Marie Long of Bloomfield; three nieces; two nephews; three grandchildren, Hannah Wiggs (Dakotah) Prasun, Troy Brocaw and Nicholas Wiggs; two stepgrandchildren, Meghan O'Shea (Danny) Jonas and Ryan O'Shea; and two great-grandchildren, Lillian Prasun and Charlotte Jonas.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.

A private graveside service will be at Bluff Cemetery in Essex, Missouri, with the Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Francis Workers and Volunteers, 211 St. Francis Dr., Cape Girardeau, MO 63703.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
