Marilyn Gay Welty, 73, of Scott City passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, in Advance, Mo., surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 4, 1940, in St. Louis to the late Russel and Gail Swan Papenberg.
Marilyn was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Some of her activities included being an eucharistic minister at church and to the homebound, an eucharistic adorer at Saint Francis Medical Center Chapel every Thursday for many years and a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She attended daily Mass and led the rosary at 10 a.m. Mass every Sunday, was an RCIA sponsor and money counter, drove Father Coon to all home visits and helped at all parish events.
She is survived by her husband, James Welty of Scott City; two daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Mandeville (Darue) of Jonesboro, Ill., and Theresa "Trese" Welty-Cookson (Brian Cookson) of Advance; and a brother, Emil Neal "Tim" Lodale (Joyce) of Washington state.
Friends may call from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Parish prayers will be read at 6:30 p.m., and a Knights of Columbus service will follow.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating.
