Marilyn L. Thorpe, 78, 3120 Independence, died Monday, April 17, 1995, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born July 31, 1916, in Robinson, Ill., daughter of Homer and Lulu M. Parr Lawhead. She and Ralph S. Thorpe were married June 16, 1940, in Robinson.
While living in Robinson she had worked for an attorney and then in the traffic department of Marathon Oil Co. Refinery.
The Thorpes moved to Rochester, N.Y., and she later worked in the business office of Greece Olympia High School in Greece, N.Y.
The couple moved to Sun City, Ariz., in 1978, where they lived until moving to Cape Girardeau in April 1994. She was active in Willowbrook United Methodist Church in Sun City, and sang in the choir. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church here.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, John Thorpe of Santa Fe, N.M., Dr. William Thorpe of Cape Girardeau, David Thorpe of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Virginia Dolan of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Leon Lawhead of Carmel, Ind.; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
