BLODGETT, Mo. -- Funeral for Marilyn Jane Deaton of Blodgett will be held at 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, Mo. The Rev. Robert Smithey will officiate.

Friends may call at the chapel from noon until time of service.

Deaton, 50, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at her home.

She was born April 21, 1951, in St. Louis, daughter of John Jackson and Jacquline Jo Holder Mitchel. She and Melvin Lee Deaton were married May 23, 1995, in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Deaton was an assembly line worker 24 years with General Motors Corp. in Fort Wayne. She was a member of United Auto Workers in Fort Wayne. She moved to Blodgett from Fort Wayne four days before her death.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Freddie and Phillip Torrez of Granite City, Ill.; her mother, Jackie Owens of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Terry Mitchel of St. Louis, Jack Mitchel of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Kathy Palmer of Brazil, Ind., Gail Johnson of Chesterfield, Mo., Shelia Ervin of Blodgett; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
