Marilyn Jean Willer Amelunke, 87, passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, at her home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, the only child of Clarence H. and Ruby M. Willer. She was baptized Feb. 4, 1934, at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

Marilyn graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in the class of 1951 and was hired as a bookkeeper for Missouri Utilities.

She and Leo William Amelunke Jr., were joined in marriage on Aug. 31, 1952, in Cape Girardeau and were married 63 years, until his death in 2016. They were blessed with one son, Mark.

The couple owned and operated Tinsley Appliance Center, retiring in 1999. Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in Ladies Aid and Stephens Ministry. She volunteered at both Southeast Hospital and Saint Francis Medical Center.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Amelunke, and by her parents.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Vanessa) Amelunke of The Woodlands, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah (Ryan) Osborn of Houston, Texas; and grandson, Josh Amelunke of Houston. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Marilyn Propst of Cape Girardeau, and Marilyn's family, Steve Propst and wife Lisa Parker of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Jeff and Sandra Sneathen of Gordonville and their two children, Jordan and Kaylyn.

A private memorial service will be held with entombment following at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorials may take the form of contributions in Marilyn's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 N. Frederick St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
