MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Marietta Jo Bochantin, 69, of Murphysboro passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at the Monticello House in Jackson. MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Marietta Jo Bochantin, 69, of Murphysboro passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Jan. 14, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Lawrence Calvin and Dorothy Daume Heise. She and John Bochantin were married June 27, 1998, at St. John's United Church of Christ near Fruitland. He survives.

Marietta was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Fruitland. She was a 1966 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and formerly worked at the Lutheran Home and Ponderosa Steakhouse in Cape Girardeau.

Marietta enjoyed vegetable gardening, hiking, rock collecting and especially growing her blackberries.

Loving survivors include her mother, Dorothy Heise; her loving husband of 18 years; two sons, Dennis Hennecke of Cape Girardeau and Larry (Shery) Hennecke of Jackson; a stepgrandson, Trever (Stacie) Varney of Jackson; two sisters, Jeannie Dianne (Ron) Lohmann of Perryville, Missouri, and Margaret Ann (Craig) Vitters of Los Angeles; a brother, Jon Calvin (Scarlett) Heise of Baxter, Tennessee; and loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund.
