Marie Genevieve Willis, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Thebes, Ill., the daughter of John Logan and Milbry Dyer Thompson. She was preceded in death by her children's father, Claude E. Willis. Feb. 2, 2002...

Marie Genevieve Willis, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Thebes, Ill., the daughter of John Logan and Milbry Dyer Thompson. She was preceded in death by her children's father, Claude E. Willis. Feb. 2, 2002.

Mrs. Willis was a cosmetologist in the beauty shop business.

She was the loving mother of daughters Dorothy Sullivan of Cape Girardeau, Patty Ralph of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and son Steve Willis of Goose Creek, S.C.

Other survivors include brother Harold Thompson of Tamms, Ill.; sisters Nell Bishop of Thebes and Mary Taylor of Wingo, Ky.; grandchildren Brian Sullivan, Matt (Brittni) Sullivan, Ashley Sullivan, Clint (Anne) Willis, Heather (Jeff) Barker and Traci Brown; great-grandchildren Cameron, Matti and Clayton Sullivan; Devin and Dakota Kesterson; Stephen and Owen Willis; Sarah and Hanna Barker; and her dear friend, Barbara Sneed of Cairo, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Logan Thompson; mother, Milbry Dyer Thompson; brother, Robert Thompson; and sisters Bonnie Farris and Maisie Foster.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kim L. Ferguson officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the United Way.
