MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Marie Steers, 88, of Mound City died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the home of a daughter.

She was born July 15, 1912, in Anniston, Mo., daughter of James and Nannie Leath Weaver. She first married Tom Franklin Butler, who preceded her in death. She later married Henry Steers, who also preceded her in death.

Steers was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Sidwell Tomberlin of Mound City, with whom she made her home, Nellie Wilson of Mound City, Nancy Sharp of Olmsted, Ill., Minnie Cox Macan of Roeland Park, Kan.; two sons, James Butler of Villa Ridge, Ill., Richard Butler of Mt. Auburn, Ill.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, son, and stepson.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joey Dunning officiating. Burial will be in Green lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
