PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie Helen Meyer, 89, of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. She was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Silver Lake, Mo., daughter of Leo and Mary Ulila McLain Tucker. She and Ewald Joseph Meyer were married April 8, 1943. He preceded her in death April 20, 1994...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie Helen Meyer, 89, of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

She was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Silver Lake, Mo., daughter of Leo and Mary Ulila McLain Tucker. She and Ewald Joseph Meyer were married April 8, 1943. He preceded her in death April 20, 1994.

Mrs. Meyer was an exchange officer for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Exchange in New London, Conn. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Ann (Henry) Parker of Louisville, Ky., Jean Towsley and fiance, Robert Craig of North Chelmsford, Mass.; a son, Randy (Leigh) Meyer of Chatom, Ala.; three sisters, Berniece Tucker of Perryville, Gertrude Wibbenmeyer of Chesterfield, Mo., Cletea Schamburg of Perryville; three grandchildren, Kathleen Levesque, Sarah Spurrell, Jonathan Meyer; and two great-grandchildren, Julian and Haley Levesque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Clarence Tucker; an infant brother, Gilbert Tucker; and an infant sister, Florence Tucker.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. The parish wake will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Apple Creek, Mo.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools.
