DORSEY, Ill. -- Marie L. Steelman, 88, of Dorsey died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
She was born July 21, 1912, in Greene County, Ill., daughter of Howard and Mary E. Walker Campbell. She and Harry D. Steelman were married March 8, 1934, in Greene County. He died March 2, 1999.
She was the leader of the Moro Merry Maids 4-H Club and a correspondent for the Alton Telegraph, covering Dorsey news. She was also a member of the Madison County Home Extension and of the First Baptist Church of Fosterburg, Ill.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Mouser of Cape Girardeau; Nancy E. Burgoyne of Dorsey, Linda K. Hermsmeyer of Springfield, Ill., and Marie V. Stackhouse of Shertz, Texas; a son, William Steelman of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by a son, a grandson, a brother and four sisters.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today at Paynic Home for Funerals in East Alton, Ill.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Annis officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Ill.
