Mrs. Marie A. Huckstep, 98, passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at the Saxony Village of Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Huckstep was born Sept. 2, 1901, near the Snyder Mill in Hubble Township at Tilsit, Mo., daughter of the late Otto A. and Friederike Burns Siebert. She married Albert L. Huckstep Dec. 9, 1922, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He died Sept. 27, 1985.
She and her husband moved to Cape Girardeau in 1922, and they became members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She was an active member of the Ladies Junior Aid.
In 1947 she and her husband started the Huckstep Body Shop and lived in their home at that location on North Kingshighway.
Surviving is a son, Willmon A. Huckstep of Cape Girardeau; seven grandsons, Jerry A., Terry A., Keith W., Gary A. and Gordon W. Huckstep, all of Cape Girardeau, Charles L. Huckstep II of Houston, Texas, and Christopher G. Huckstep of Kingsport, Tenn.; three granddaughters, Cheri Reed and Janis Rebert, both of Cape Girardeau and Roxanne Huckstep of Yorktown, Va.; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Hoffmeister of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles L. and Gene E. Huckstep, a brother, three sisters and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home at Cape Girardeau and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The Rev. David Hintz will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the "Living Hope" at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
