CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Marianne V. York, 80, of Chaffee, formerly of Evansville, Ind., died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 8, 1931, to the late Joseph J. and Barbara Beck Waltman.
She married James York in 1951, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She was a retired schoolteacher as well as a retired cashier at Eastside Walmart in Evansville, Ind. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Evansville, an Auxiliary member of Chaffee VFW Post 3127, a volunteer for the Chaffee Nutrition Center, and she loved to play bingo.
Survivors include two sons, James "Tweety" York of Chaffee and Joseph C. York of Louisville, Ky.; three daughters; Beth York of Chaffee, Lezli Adams and Carol Beard-Welborn, both of Evansville; two sisters; Joanne Podawiltz of Georgia and Audrey Fetscher of Evansville; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. until time of service Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Matt Butrum officiating.
