Mariam I. Slinkard, 93, of Jackson died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Jackson Manor.
She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Jackson to James Edward and Eva Emily Crader Conley. She and Marvin F. Slinkard were married July 17, 1935, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Aug. 28, 2008.
Mariam was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and was past president of the United Methodist Women and president of the Evening Circle. She was very active at the church. She worked for Sears from 1963 to 1981 in the catalog sales department and was a member of the Sears Retirement Club.
Survivors include two sons, Russ (Stella) Slinkard of Joliet, Ill., and William (Charlotte) Slinkard of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Janis (Lewis) Ticer and Robyn (Lynn) Morton, both of Jackson; a sister, Mildred (Doug) Rathert of Mountlake Terrace, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Donald Slinkard; and two brothers, Ivan and Melvin Conley.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. David Conley and Bryan Schaefer officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Maple United Methodist Church.
