Graveside service for Marguerite Lewis of Tulsa, Okla., was held Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. A memorial service followed at First Presbyterian Church.

Stanley Funeral Home in Tulsa was in charge of arrangements.

Lewis, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 1996.

She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Russell L. and Marguerite Oliver Dearmont. She and Dr. C.S. Lewis were married in 1941.

Lewis was a graduate of Central High School, and received a degree in English from Lindenwood College in St. Charles in 1941. She served as president of Lindenwood College Alumni, and was president of the Tulsa County Medical Auxiliary in the 1960s. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had served on the Board of Deaconesses.

She and her husband made many trips to help with Presbyterian medical mission work, and served two months in a church-related hospital in India in 1961. They traveled to as many as 70 Presbyterian-related hospitals in South Asia and Africa.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sally Lorenz of Madison, Wis., Carol Kast of Corvallis, Ore.; a son, C.S. Lewis III of Tulsa; a sister, Jurie Fisher of Webster Groves; and seven grandchildren.
