EAST PRAIRIE -- Marguerite Hockersmith Allen, 88, of East Prairie died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at East Prairie Nursing Center. She was born May 18, 1908, at Dorena, daughter of Burris and Katherine Kelly Doss. She and Roy Hockersmith were married Jan. 2, 1926. He died Aug. 23, 1968. She then married Raymond Allen Nov. 18, 1970. He died May 4, 1988...

EAST PRAIRIE -- Marguerite Hockersmith Allen, 88, of East Prairie died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born May 18, 1908, at Dorena, daughter of Burris and Katherine Kelly Doss. She and Roy Hockersmith were married Jan. 2, 1926. He died Aug. 23, 1968. She then married Raymond Allen Nov. 18, 1970. He died May 4, 1988.

Allen owned and operated Hockersmith Grocery several years. She was a member of the Church of God.

Survivors include a daughter, Lawanda Douglas of East Prairie; a sister, Elois Jones of Dorena; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and grandson.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
