Margie Marie Proffer, 85, of Whitewater died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Oak Ridge, to Oscar and Anna Mae Hahs Schweer. She and Norman (N.A.) Proffer were married Feb. 10, 1951.
She worked for International Shoe Co. in Jackson for 15 years.
Margie was a member of Burfordville Baptist Church, where she taught in the nursery for many years. She also was a member of the Excelsior Chapter of DeMolays Mothers Club.
She is survived by her husband, Norman (N.A.) Proffer of Whitewater; one son, Richard Proffer of Whitewater; one daughter, Brenda Rhodes of Oran, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christina Day, Amy Phillips, William (Bill) Loper Jr. and Melissa Goodale; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Melvin Bud Schweer; and two sisters, Anna Lee Quade and Wanda Brown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ervin Brooks, Morris Cobb and Paul Graham officiating. Burial will be in Proffer Cemetery in Crump.
