Margie Theda Brennan Ervin, 99, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at Southeast Hospital.
She was a twin born Dec. 2, 1919, in Cape Girardeau County to John Alfred and Lulu McLard Brennan. She and Wilbert A. "Bud" Ervin were married June 30, 1939, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1997.
She was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1937. She lived in Cape Girardeau all but four years, when they lived in St. Louis.
She was the secretary and bookkeeper at Ervin's Air Conditioning and Heating, which was established in 1965. They retired April 1, 1984.
She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church, where she was the longest and oldest member. She was baptized and became a member March 31, 1929. Margie was past president of United Methodist Women from 1975 to 1977. She was past chairwoman of the administrative board from 1981 to 1983, where she was the first woman from Maple to chair the board. She was past superintendent of the children's department for six to eight years. Margie was also a member of the choir for several years, taught Sunday school for more than 20 years and was a member of the night circle.
She was past president of the May Greene School PTA and past president and charter member of Entre Nous Club.
Survivors include her son, Charles W. (Brenda) Ervin of Festus, Missouri; daughter, Patricia A. (Jesse) Williams of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Ben (Beth) Ervin of Pevely, Missouri, and Rachel (Dr. Ben) Conoyer of St. Charles, Missouri; and five great-grandchildren, Brennan Ervin, Brody Ervin, Sam Conoyer, Will Conoyer and Breanna Williams. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends and was Momma Margie to so many of her "kids".
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Revs. Jeff Estes and Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Maple United Methodist Church.
