SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Margie L. Chidster, 65, of Scott City, formerly of East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born July 3, 1935, in Piggott, Ark., daughter of Gus and Lorene Cook Scheffler.

She was married to George J. Lee Chidster. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Jack L. Chidster of San Antonio and Ron J. Chidster of New Athens, Ill.; a daughter, Sandra K. Cook of Scott City; three brothers, Billy Scheffler of McDougal, Ark., and Jimmy Scheffler and Alfred Scheffler, both of Corning, Ark.; four sisters, Mary Kilbreath and Betty Finley, both of McDougal, Pauline Bradberry of Corning, and Patsy Ray of Bowling Green, Ky.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kassly Mortuary in Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Hal Santos officiating.

Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights.
