Margie B. Casteel, 86, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Lutheran Home Assisted Living East.

She was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Scott City to Walter J. and Helen Brooks Cassout.

Margie was the second employee and first female employee to be hired by Procter & Gamble. She worked there 23 years, retiring in the early 1990s.

Margie enjoyed the company of John Hensley, and together they attended Unity Baptist Church in Benton, Missouri, until his passing in 2011.

Surviving family members are son Randy (Becky) Casteel and their children, Travis (Susan) Casteel -- children Maxwell and Simon -- and Katie Casteel, all of Cincinnati; and son Jim (Lea Anne) Casteel and their son, Hunter Casteel (Sloane Johnson), all of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Casteel; her parents; a brother, Charles R. (Sharon) Cassout; and her dear friend, John Hensley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Lutheran Home Assisted Living East.
