SIKESTON -- Margaret Wilson Schmerbauch, 78, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1991, at her home.
She was born Feb. 25, 1913, near Sparta, Ill., daughter of Charles E.W. and Martha Ann Lynn Cathcart. She married W.J. "Chip" Schmerbauch Feb. 7, 1939, at Charleston.
Schmerbauch was co-owner of Chip's Shoe Alley here until 1961. She was one of three founders of Sikeston Child Development Center in 1967, and assisted in its operation until 1975.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women and Philathea Sunday School Class, and member of Rotary Anns.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Margie Murphy of Farmington, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Caledonia Cemetery at Sparta.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today, and until 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
