Margaret Painter of Orlando, Fla., was born in 1922. She was the daughter of John and Armilda Crawford Heacker Jack of Knoxville, Tenn.

She died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at her home.

Margaret is survived by four children, Karen Elizabeth Painter of Orlando, John B. Painter of Germantown, Tenn., James Edward Painter of Overland Park, Kan., Nancy Marie Painter Richmond of Orlando; a sister, Dorothy Jack Denny of Nashville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Angela Richmond Rodda, Sarah Richmond, Lisa Richmond and Mark Painter.

She was preceded by her parents and husband, L.B. Painter Jr., M.D.

It was with her husband that Margaret moved to the community of Portageville, Mo., soon after their marriage. Over the course of more than 50 years they reared their children and took active roles in the community, Margaret as homemaker, mother and devoted wife, and L.B. as one of the city's few doctors.

Margaret was also an active member of First Baptist Church of Portageville. She moved to Orlando in 2006.

The funeral was held June 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, Tenn., with Dr. Buck Morton of First Baptist Church of Portageville officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.
