OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Margaret "Peggy" Ridlehoover Morris, 86, of Owensboro, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away May 14, 2016, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky.

Peggy was born in Cadiz, Kentucky, on May 7, 1930, to the late Samuel Franklin Ridlehoover and Anne Dunnington Beauchamp Ridlehoover Swem.

She was a graduate of Atherton High School in Louisville, where she was voted Most Athletic Senior. She attended the University of Kentucky, where she met and later married the love of her life, Houston "Mac" McCulloch Morris. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Jan. 20, 2016.

Peggy was a homemaker for her husband and her four children. She was always an active volunteer in the United Methodist Church (Settle Memorial United Methodist Church in Owensboro) and in other various community organizations. During her adult life, she lived in several towns, most notably Cape Girardeau; Benton, Kentucky; and Owensboro. She managed Betsy's Hallmark Shop for 17 years in Benton.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Joan Ridlehoover Feland; and her brother, Samuel "Sonny" Franklin Ridlehoover Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Houston M. Morris; children, Margaret Morris Brown (Danny) and Elizabeth Morris McMaine (Jeff), both of Owensboro, David Beauchamp Morris (Linda) of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and Allen McCulloch Morris of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Anne Underwood, Sarah McMaine-Render, Travis McMaine, Kaytlin Dawes and Caroline Morris; great-granddaughters, Lilly Underwood and Paysen Render; one brother, Earl Gregg Swem III; and one niece, Julia Ridlehoover Galaudet.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 E. Fourth St. in Owensboro.

A memorial celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at a later date at the family cemetery in Hancock County, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The United Methodist Women of the church of your choice.
