CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Margaret Mary Miller, 83, of Springfield, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at James River Care Center in Springfield.
She was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Pocahontas, Ark., daughter of William Joseph and Eva Catherine Baltz Ludwig. She and Leon William "Raney" Miller were married April 23, 1949.
Margaret graduated from St. Mary's High School (now Notre Dame Regional High School) in Cape Girardeau in 1946. She attended college in Illinois.
She taught third grade at St. Ambrose Catholic School and was a cosmetologist at Nickens Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, Daughters of St. Ambrose, PEO Chapter CX in Chaffee, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion.
Margaret enjoyed golfing with her husband and friends at Kimbeland Country Club and was a member of several bridge groups. Her volunteer work included local elections, local boards and her church. She was a resident of Chaffee more than 60 years, moving to Springfield in 2009.
Survivors include a son, Leon W. "Buddy" Miller Jr. (Jean) of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Jane Paul (A.G. "Butch") of Springfield, Mary Stadtmueller (Charles "Chuck") of Spokane, Wash., Eva Keagle (Rick) of Harker Heights, Texas, Sue Ann Kern of Park City, Utah; a brother, Dr. Frank Ludwig (Kris) of Maumelle, Ark.; a sister, Ann Braden (Jim) of Danville, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; four grandchildren-in-law; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Leon W. Miller.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. PEO service will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randolph Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
