SIKESTON, Mo. -- Margaret Helen Klingel Jackson was born Feb. 16, 1930, near Blodgett, Missouri, to David Louis and Lessie Tippy Klingel. She passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at Delta South Nursing Care and Rehabilitation in Sikeston after a short illness at age 91.
She graduated from Blodgett High School. She married Curtis H. Jackson in Chaffee, Missouri, on July 14, 1951. They were married for 64 years when he died in 2015. They resided on a farm near Morley, Missouri, until they retired and moved to Country Place in Kelso, Missouri.
Margaret retired from Scott County Central Schools after more than 40 years as secretary to the superintendent. She was a member of Hooe Baptist Church and had been the church treasurer, leader of music and Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and her daughter, Elaine Jackson.
Margaret is survived by a brother, Charles (Mary) Klingel of Battlefield, Missouri; son, Jim (Deanne) Jackson of Rolla, Missouri; daughter, Martha (Vincent) Cook of Scott City; five grandchildren, Bo (Nikki) Cook of O'Fallon, Missouri, Vanessa Cook of Oxford, Mississippi, Jamie (Ed) Verkamp of Prairie Village, Kansas, Casey (Bill) Evans of Ozark, Missouri, and Kris (Shannon) Cook of Falls Church, Virginia; and three great-grandchildren, Reece Huffman of Ozark and Reed and Lainey Cook of O'Fallon.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Graveside service will follow at New Morley Cemetery in Morley.
