Margaret K. Brethorst, 89, of University City, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006.
She was born in Jefferson City, Mo., daughter of J. Henry and Leona Kerperin Schulte. She and Harvey Louis Brethorst were married in 1941.
Brethorst was a 1934 graduate of St. Peter High School in Jefferson City. The family moved to University City in 1964 from Jefferson City. She worked in the housing department at University City Hall. After retiring she was a volunteer tutor at Delmar Harvard School, Red Cross, and University City Senior Center.
She was a member of All Saints Parish in University City and All Saints Women's Guild.
Survivors include two sons, retired Col. William Brethorst of Leavenworth, Kan., Jon Brethorst of St. Louis; two daughters, Marilee Ingoldsby and Meg Wynkoop of St. Louis; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Neumeyer of Cape Girardeau, Jeannette Hurley and Emily Roseman of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church in University City.
