Maretta J. Wyatt, 79, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Wednesday, June 7, 1933, in Paducah, Ky., to Cyrus P. and Lura Merritt Owen.

Maretta was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church as well as Liberty Baptist Church in Hickory, Ky. She worked for Sears and Roebuck before becoming a homemaker. She loved to sew and shared her passion with others around the world with dolls and other items to help in the mission field. She also enjoyed assisting with election polls in Missouri and Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dalton Wyatt of Cape Girardeau; three children, Ed (Tanna) Wyatt of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Mark (Kim) Wyatt of Newnan, Ga., and Kathy (Bobby) Gifford of Clinton, Ky.; one brother, David (Lynn) Owen of Mayfield, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Janna Wyatt, Brittany (Matt) Newton, Austin Wyatt, Blake Wyatt and Ian Jameson.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at noon at the church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Visitation also will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church, 7581 State Route 1241, Hickory, Ky.

Funeral service will be at noon at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Berry officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Paducah, Ky.
