Marcell K. Pringle, 80, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at Monticello House.

He was born Dec. 1, 1934, in Seventy-Six, Missouri, once an area near Brazeau. He is the son of Marcell L. Pringle and Althea Swan. Marcell and Frances Wade were married May 25, 1979; she survives.

Marcell worked at McDonnell-Douglas and the United States Postal Service in St. Louis. Marcell was the first African-American deputy sheriff for the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, and a Cape Girardeau County Child Support Enforcement Agent. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of St. Louis, member of American Legion Post No. 63 in Cape Girardeau and VFW Post No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau. Marcell was an entrepreneur with his restaurant and trucking businesses.

Loving survivors include his wife of 36 years; four daughters, Melba (George) Foster of Jackson, Michelle Pringle of Aurora, Colorado, Marsala Pringle of Centreville, Illinois, and Merla Simmons of Lovejoy, Illinois; five sons, Marcell (Donna) Pringle Jr. of St. Louis, Marion "Binky" Pringle of Jackson, Dennis (Linda) Sides of Cleveland, Loren (Pam) Sides of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Darrell (Janet) Sides of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, Lillie R. Wade; three brothers, Sherman (Sylvilla) Swan of Jackson, Earnest "Mike" Swan of Moscow Mills, Missouri, and Dennis (Barbara) Swan of Gordonville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Swan; and two sisters, Lucille Bell and Verna Newson.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Deaconess Louise Duncan officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with graveside military honors.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
