SEDGEWICKVILLE -- Maple Z. Stearns, 91, of Sedgewickville, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 5 1908, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Napolean and Mahala Seabaugh Stearns. He and Ellen Prewett Stewart were married March 25, 1967. She died March 7, 1987.
Stearns was employed at Peterson's Planing Mill of St. Louis. He retired in 1975 and moved to Sedgewickville. He had been a resident of the Chaffee Nursing Center since 1995. He was a member of Sedgewickville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two step-sons, Leslie Ames Stewart of Knob Knoster and Wallace Richard Stewart of Sedgewickville; a sister, Ines Hahs of Sedgewickville; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Albert Nyland officiating. Burial will be in Sedgewickville Cemetery.
