Manuel G. Finchum, 68, of Jackson died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1938, in Waynoka, Okla., son of Ray N. and Lena Taylor Finchum. He and Virginia JoAnn Sides were married May 23, 1959.

Finchum served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He was a truck driver for Havco Wood Products 10 years. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, where he formerly taught Sunday school and Children's Church, served as songleader, door greeter, and had been a member of Baptist Men's Brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debbie Mitchell and Tina Price of Jackson, Donna Brown of Garland, Texas; a sister, Betty James of Woodward, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Don Slatton will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John Rhodes. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas with full military honors.
