Manuel Drumm

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Manuel Drumm, 74, of Sikeston died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of Victor H. and Lois Goodin Drumm. He and Patricia Hayes were married Sept. 5, 1953.

Drumm received a bachelor of science degree in business and a doctorate of law from the University of Missouri in 1953. He served on the Board of Editors and Law Review, and was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 1953.

He moved to Sikeston in 1955 and worked at the law office of Blanton and Blanton, and then established his own practice in 1957.

Drumm served as assistant prosecuting attorney of Scott County from 1957 to 1958, and was city attorney for Sikeston from 1958 to 1971 and 1973 to 1977. He was general legal counsel for Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities since 1977.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Scott County Bar Association, served on the Missouri Bar Board of Governors from 1983 to 1985, and in 2003 received the 50-year senior counselor status from the Missouri Bar Association.

Drumm served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Jeffers. He earned the Eagle Scout award in 1945.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jennifer Mitchell of Tulsa, Okla., Susan McAuliffe of Northbrook, Ill.; a brother, Victor Drumm of Carmel, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church.

Following the service, the family will receive guests from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sikeston Country Club.
