DONGOLA, Ill. -- Maldetta M. Ritchey Compton, 79, formerly of Cypress, Ill., died on Friday, June 9, 2000, at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

She was the daughter of Bryan and Ethel Lingle Ritchey. She married William Eugene Compton.

Compton was a member of the North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro and had retired as a files manager for the Internal Revenue Service.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sue Rucker of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Crain Funeral Home of Dongola is in charge of local arrangements.
