Born on Jan. 18, 1933, in Leopold, Missouri, she was the daughter of Theodore J. and Catherine Ann Hinkebein Peters. She married August J. Eftink Sr. on Nov. 12, 1955, at St. John Church in Leopold. MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Majorica "Marjie" Ann Eftink, 87, of Marble Hill died Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born on Jan. 18, 1933, in Leopold, Missouri, she was the daughter of Theodore J. and Catherine Ann Hinkebein Peters. She married August J. Eftink Sr. on Nov. 12, 1955, at St. John Church in Leopold. He preceded her in death March 25, 2011. With 11 children, she was a very busy homemaker and community member.

As a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church in Leopold, she was also a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and member of the Legion of Mary. She belonged to many pro-life organizations, including Voice for Life; a founder and board member of the Crisis Pregnancy Center; Missouri Right to Life, and a board member of the Southeast Chapter; and Vitae Society, receiving the Person of the Year Award.

She walked her talk of pro-life and anti-abortion by traveling throughout the country to protest and picket abortion clinics and experienced civil arrest for a sit-in.

Within her community, she was a founding Cub Scout Pack 315 den mother; enjoyed Fans of Country Music; belonged to the 10-Point Club; and as a young, busy mother, joined the Cane Creek Extension Club.

She and Gus enjoyed dancing, especially at Shakertown, and encouraged music within her family.

She is survived by 10 children, Jeff Eftink, Eva (Charlie) Dunn, Terrie Rose, A.J. (Sharon) Eftink Jr., Ted (Sheryl) Eftink, Mike (Donna) Eftink, Tom Eftink, Adrian (Kim) Eftink, Damian (Marla) Eftink and Nathan (Misty) Eftink; by two sisters, Sister Marie Ambrose, SSND, and Bonnie Diebold; two brothers, Teddy Joe and Mark Peters; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Included in her survivors are her in-laws, Patsy Peters, Maggie Peters, Martha Ladd Peters, Emma Eftink Holzum, Alene and Louis Eftink and Frances VanGennip.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jeremy Eftink; a son-in-law, Dale Rose; a daughter-in-law, Mary Eftink; and brothers, F.X., Ambrose, Matt and Januar Peters.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at St John Catholic Church in Leopold. Parish prayers and rosary will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Her grandson, the Rev. Charles Dunn, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
