SIKESTON -- Major P. Robinson, 89, of Sikeston and formerly of Bell City died Monday at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born June 10, 1906 in Tunica, Miss., to James and Annie Tyson Robinson. In 1944 he married Elizabeth Chandler Robinson, who died April 11, 1996.
He moved to Sikeston in 1990 and was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Jimmie Lanford Robinson of the state of Mississippi, Major Robinson Jr. and Causie Robinson, both of Haywood City, Anthony Robinson of Shawnee, Kan., Edward Robinson of Kansas City and Donnel Robinson of Sikeston; nine daughters, Mary Shearnes of Cape Girardeau, Annie Jones, Betty Long, Rosa Robinson and Susan Robinson, all of Kansas City, Bobbie Ross of North Charleston, S.C., Bonnie Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., and Dorothy Robinson and Martha Robinson, both of Sikeston; 37 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, on daughter and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation is Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Sikeston. Services are noon Saturday at the Bell City Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Sylvester Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in J.C. Pullen Memorial Cemetery at Bell City.
