MARBLE HILL -- Mahala C. Mayfield, 87, of Marble Hill died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at her home.
She was born Oct. 19, 1910, near Marble Hill, daughter of Louis S. and Fanny C. Aldrich Welker. She and Melvin Mayfield were married April 16, 1933. He died Jan. 31, 1966.
Mayfield attended Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Clarence Mayfield of Marble Hill, Lester Mayfield of Scott City, Donald Mayfield of Patton; two daughters, Mabel Patton and Verla Sutton of Marble Hill; a brother, Troy Welker of Marble Hill; three sisters, Rebecca Welker of Cape Girardeau, Bertha Welker of Millersville, Martha Abernathy of Whitewater; four grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 3-8 p.m. today, and Saturday at Hurricane Church from 10 a.m. until service time.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Jimmie Fulbright and Steven Sander officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
