SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mahala Bea Buras Helms, 90, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Center.

She was born June 24, 1912, in Coleman County, Texas, daughter of Elijah John and Jane Needham Sanders. She married Leslie Earl Helms, who preceded her in death.

Helms was a member of a Baptist church.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Buras of Alvarado, Texas, Pete Davis of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; two daughters, Mary Cox of Portales, N.M., Shirley Fournier of Sikeston; and 15 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, 11 brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William "Bill" Koch officiating.

A funeral service will be held later at the Baptist Church in Tatum, N.M. Burial will be in Tatum Municipal Cemetery.
