Maggie Ruth Holland of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at SoutheastHEALTH.

She was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Jackson, daughter of Garnett and Rispa Johnson Masterson and recently celebrated her 89th birthday.

She and William Holland married March 22, 1952, at Piggott, Arkansas.

Maggie was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She previously worked at the family-owned Dairy Bell and the International Shoe factory in Cape Girardeau.

After the birth of their only child, Michael (Carrie), Maggie was a stay-at-home mother.

She assisted in the care of her precious grandchildren, Christopher, Kelli and Caroline.

She also was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Leighton and Liam.

Maggie is survived by her son; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Holland; four sisters, Goldie Vogelsang, Dorothy Kilmer, Ruby Statler and Inez McClendon; and a brother, Carl Masterson.

A private family committal service will be held.

Arrangements are by McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
