Madyson Paige Oliver, 11, of Lawton, Okla., passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at O.U. Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born March 7, 2001, in Cape Girardeau, to Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Wayne and Kimberly Gibbar Oliver.

Madyson was a fifth-grade "A" honor student at Bishop Elementary in Lawton. She celebrated life every day. She had a marvelous sense of humor and could make us laugh at her quirky comments and unique take on life, and by her comical monkey faces. She was an avid student and absolutely loved to read.

Madyson loved academic competitions and she loved to draw and paint, especially with the colors blue and purple. She was a modern day "flower child" and greatly loved the peace sign logo.

Madyson showed us all how to enjoy life and celebrate each moment. She rarely complained, even through all the challenges of fighting AML leukemia since July 2011. She taught us so much about inner strength and perseverance, about acceptance and determination.

She is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Kimberly Oliver; a brother, Mason Oliver; twin sister, Meygan Oliver, all of Lawton; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Joyce Gibbar of Cape Girardeau; paternal grandparents, Angie and Larry Davie of Cape Girardeau, and LaDonna Oliver of Perryville, Mo.
