PUXICO, Mo. -- Madaline Wilhelm, 90, of Puxico passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Dexter, Missouri.
She was born June 10, 1924, in St. Louis, daughter of Harold Fern and Minnie Pearl Owens Thomas. She and Dean Wilhelm were married July 17, 1946, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 1997.
Madaline lived in St. Louis, Kansas City and Pacific Grove, California, before returning to Puxico in 1946. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Puxico, Southeast Missouri China Painters and a charter member of Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7822 and the Thursday Culture Club.
She had been a clerk at the Puxico post office, postmaster at Clarkton, Missouri, and had been Puxico city clerk. She graduated from Puxico High School and Three Rivers Community College with an associate degree.
Survivors include three daughters and two spouses, Cathy and Nelson Oakley of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Nancy Wilhelm of Cape Girardeau, and Tammy and Tom Street of Bloomfield, Missouri; a granddaughter, Lee Miller of Puxico; other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Thomas, and a sister, Julia Williams.
A graveside service was Sunday at Puxico Cemetery, with the Rev. Wayne Burchett of Puxico officiating.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Puxico was in charge of arrangements.
