Lynn Samuel Mayes, 97, of Clearwater, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1993, at Manor Care of Dunedin in Dunedin, Fla. He was born March 12, 1896, in Marietta, Ga., son of Newt and Mollie Orr Mayes. He and the former Ezella Prosser were married in 1940 in Ohio. She died Aug. 23, 1989...

Lynn Samuel Mayes, 97, of Clearwater, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1993, at Manor Care of Dunedin in Dunedin, Fla.

He was born March 12, 1896, in Marietta, Ga., son of Newt and Mollie Orr Mayes. He and the former Ezella Prosser were married in 1940 in Ohio. She died Aug. 23, 1989.

Mayes was a retired experimental engine mechanic at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich. He was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church in Clearwater, and served in the U.S. Marines during World War I.

Survivors include a son, Wilson Boyd of Advance; a daughter, Jean Humble of Canton, Mich.; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday.
