Lynn Byrd, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 11, 1998, at Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1918, at Brazeau, son of Nolan and Delthia Barber Byrd. He and Gertrude "Trudy" DeBolt were married Aug. 23, 1940. She died March 9, 1990.
Byrd was a graduate of Perryville High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was the first employee of the former Charlie Harris Co., and had worked for the company 40 years in Cape Girardeau and Tucson, Ariz.
Byrd was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a deacon, former trustee and greeter; and member of VFW Post 3838. He had resided at the Veterans Home the past four years.
Survivors include two sons, Jim and Steve Byrd of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Donna McDowell of Lillian, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Miles White officiating. Burial will be in Brazeau Cemetery at Brazeau.
