GRAND TOWER, Ill. -- Lyman "Lum" Rumfelt, 72, of Grand Tower died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 20, 1935, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Vester and Bessie Kinney Rumfelt. He and Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Remrey were married Dec. 31, 1955, in Fulton, Ill. She died April 17, 1999.
Rumfelt was a former steel worker, and member of Anna Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ford of Grand Tower, Elizabeth Varga of Louisville, Ky., Julie Richards of Morrison; four sons, Charles, Cyrus and Lyman Rumfelt of Morrison, Robert Rumfelt of Auburn, Ala.; two brothers, Joe Rumfelt of Jonesboro, Jim Rumfelt of Fulton; 33 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with John Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery at Grand Tower.
