SIKESTON -- Funeral for Lyman T. Harris of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Mickeal Quillman will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Harris, 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Lake County, Tenn., son of Will and Alline Harris. He and Maxine Conley were married Dec. 31, 1995.
Harris was a supervisor at Fairfield Aluminum in Fairfield, Iowa, and had also been a self-employed carpenter.
He was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Sikeston, and United Auto Workers in Flint, Mich. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Thomas and Sonny Harris of Fairfield, Johnny Harris of Richland, Iowa, Jeffery Harris of Pleasant Plains, Iowa; three daughters, Sondra Buttry of Sikeston, Mary Harris and Delorse Lamb of Fairfield; two stepsons, Gerry Conley of Pocahontas, Ark., Jeff Conley of Sikeston; and a stepdaughter, Kathy Elliott of Morehouse.
Also surviving are five brothers, Ivory Harris of Wyatt, Bill and James Harris of Sikeston, Frank Harris of Flint, Clevon "Bob" Harris of Bertrand; two sisters, Levi Harris and Mary Ellen Harris of Sikeston; 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; five stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
