SIKESTON -- Luther B. Smith, 95, of Sikeston died Friday, April 26, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1901, in Fayetteville, Tenn., to the late Thaddis Clarence and Sadie Mae Barnes Smith. He was a retired farmer and furniture store owner.
He married Rosie Lee Ward on May 18, 1927, in Charleston. She died May 24, 1994.
Survivors include six sons, Willie B. Smith of Linden, Tenn., Luther Smith Jr. and Travis Smith, both of Sikeston, Leon Smith of Cape Girardeau, Harold Smith of Las Vegas and Truman Smith of Irondale; three daughters, Louise Shaver and Caroline Patterson, both of Sikeston, and Flossie Shaw of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Grace Horrell of Chaffee; two brothers, Harold Smith and James Smith, both of Fayetteville; four sisters, Lois Ramsey of Louisville, Ky., Willie Mae Bell and Christine Walker, both of Fayetteville, and Arneva Pigg of Murfreesboro, Tenn; 27 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Amos Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
