JONESBORO, Ill. -- Luther E. Gibbs, 77, Jonesboro Route 1, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1991, at his home.
He was born July 12, 1914, at Jonesboro, son of Arthur and Fannie Day Gibbs. He married Gladys Arnold, who preceded him in death.
Gibbs was a retired farmer, and member of Reynoldsville Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Pender of Jonesboro; two sons, Gary and Richard Gibbs of Jonesboro; four brothers, E.A. and Wilborn Gibbs of Jonesboro, Walter Gibbs of Alto Pass, Jesse Gibbs of Chester; two sisters, Emma Baggett of Anna, Myrtle Brooks of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and an infant sister.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Norris and Son Funeral Chapel in Jonesboro. The Revs. Verlee Eaker and Randy Morgan will officiate, with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.
