CAIRO, Ill. -- Lurene Joyner, 92, of Cairo died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 14, 1906, in Crossville, daughter of Charles and Martha Calvin Upshaw. She married Louis Herbert Joyner, who died in 1942.
Joyner had been a clerk at P.N. Hirsch. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Hogan of Cairo, Charlzene White of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Helena Holmes of Murphysboro, Mary Jones of Cairo; two brothers, Harold Upshaw of Ullin, Howard Upshaw of Cairo; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 9 a.m. Monday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill Gholson will officiate. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.
