SCOTT CITY -- Graveside service for Lula Mae Stipes of Lewiston, Calif., was held Nov. 16 at Lewiston Cemetery. Jim Curran officiated.
Stipes, 88, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1993, at Trinity Convalescent Hospital in Weaverville, Calif.
She was born May 22, 1905, in Louisville, Ill., daughter of Ellsworth and Stella Florence Atchison Connerly. She first married Wylie Owens in Urbana, Ill. She later married John Stipes in 1937, who died July 29, 1977.
Stipes was manager of Fallon's Cleaners in Urbana for many years. Prior to retiring, she was manager of Rush Creek Cafe and Pine Cove Pizza Parlor in Lewiston. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose, Lewiston Garden Club, Rebekah Lodge, Lewiston Fire Department Fire Belles, and had been active in 4-H.
Survivors include a daughter, Florence Owens Calhoun of Scott City; two brothers, John Connerly of Mahomet, Ill., Wayne Connerly of Palm Springs, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by two sons.
